John Dee on Astronomy

Out here in New York State, I am studying a book called John Dee on Astronomy, translated by Shumaker and Heilbron, which I think has some interesting ideas. I'll try to list them here. According to Dee:
1. In the distance until the moon (approx 52 earth radii according to his calculations), there is an "envelope of fire".
2. Stars act as "magnets" whose magnetic fields are released like rays and act on earth and human beings.
3. These influences can be concentrated using parabolic mirrors. They also reflect off the interior of the Primum Mobile, as from a huge concave mirror.
4. Planetary powers have an interior resonance with specific elementals, which has to be found by experiment.
5. It is possible for effects to be inverted: a "gentle" touch of the planet is many times more effective than the conjunctions etc. Like the principle of homeopathy, less is more.
6. Line of sight is important.
The old english is not easy... thankfully the translators have helped a lot.
