Site Timeouts during posting

Post by SiteAdmin » Sat Sep 24, 2016 1:50 pm

Due to security concerns, session cookies can no longer be used without specifying a "session expiration" value, which means if you do not interact with the site by clicking on something for that period, the site will "time out" and consider you to be logged off. The default value is 3600 seconds (60 minutes, 1 hour). I have increased it to 7200 seconds (2 hours) for forum posting (this will override any default your browser may supply for the session). This should be more than adequate; making it any longer will cause resource utilization issues on the server (too many concurrent sessions).

Please keep this in mind when making long posts. All you have to do to reset the timer is to click "Preview" and continue on. Also keep in mind that humongous posts are often not read by people--it is just "too much." Short and succinct are usually a better approach.
