I'd like to point out on this one, "researchers have theoretically demonstrated a new way to bring light to a standstill" -- they have not actually DONE it.

And technically, since light does not move with respect to the natural reference system, they are actually speeding up light, to the speed of light! That should really make your head hurt!

Been there, done that... blew up an experiment in the basement with it and nearly fried all the electronics in the house. Though SoverT may find the article interesting, in light of our discussions a couple weeks ago.
