RS Study Group Meeting

Post by Phillip »

Picking the night to meet is probably the first priority.

Second, we can find a place.

I would like to see us meet Tuesday, Wed. or Thursday night next

week at around 7:00 pm MST so Mike can join in over the internet.

Five places, I know of, are possible with free WiFi.

Panderas Bread on South College, North of Wendy's, South of Horsetooth

Mugs East on S. College, downtown

Mugs West in Cedarwood Plaza shopping center, Taft Hill & Elizabeth

Cafe Adeur about 261 Linden

Joe's Coffee probably about 160 Mason

Other possibilities? (Dave, would your house work?)

Someone needs to check on hours and available "meeting space"

where our speakers would not conflict with other customers.

Can we reserve meeting space/tables? I can check Saturday, if

not one has before then.

What I currently know about the places:

Panderas Bread - nice and new. not very private.

Mugs East - not good for meeting, unless downstairs open.

Mugs West - not good for meeting, unless have back room?

Cafe Adeur - usually quiet, have back area, but ceiling open

Joe's Coffee - never been in there.

Panderas Bread has the most diverse menu, Mugs has some menu,

Mugs is mostly coffee and sweet bread stuff.

Hi Phillip,

Sure, I could probably join in for an evening meeting next week.

Any time after 9pm EST would work best.

My wife is having book club at our home on tuesday night and thus would like for me to disappear, so tuesday would be my preference. I had a dream last night about the discussion group, in which there was a big bunch of friends discussing rarified topics. I'm not sure we're at a place, however, in day time, where we're ready to podcast. I don't know Mike, yet, but I would think our current discussions might be both confusing and boring, if observed from afar. Thus, not sure we yet need wi-fi connections. I'm open to further suggestions ... Bear

Mike is one of my oldest friends; we've been talking about this stuff for about 20 years now, so I don't think confusion nor boredom would be an issue.

We also have a couple other "internet" group members: Dan McCann, who got me hooked on the ideas of projective geometry and counterspace (so you can blame him!) and Gopi Krishna, a physics student at IIT University in Kanpur, India, who is kind of the "Number One Son" when it comes to learning the Reciprocal System. (Old "Charlie Chan" reference).

Tuesday night is fine with me; evenings are good because Mike and Gopi (who is 12 hours in the future, on the other side of the planet) could attend via Internet. Dan has a catalog business, and is tied up getting those holiday catalogs ready so you can run up those credit cards!

I will finalize schedule this evening after I talk again with Dave.

I have scheduled Everyday Joe's Coffee Shop, upstairs

room, 144 S. Mason, Fort Collins (phone 970-224-4138)

for Tuesday (tomorrow) at 6:30 pm for setup,

figuring we would meet about 7:00 pm.

They close at 10:00 pm.

An alternate tentative possibility is Wed. night at Dave's.

Dave is probably not available Tuesday night.
