are "why apples fall to the ground" and "why planets revolve around stars" the same thing?

i was watching this video from Eric Dollard's site

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_-WQZ1SGqi4

on electric motors

the sun (stator) provides a rotating magnetic field

the earth (rotor) becomes an electromagnet and tries to align with the rotating field

but never catches up with it (relative movement)

did Newton cause us problems by comparing "apples and earths"?

Watched the video... I would associate it thusly... solar systems are inside-out, compared to motors:

For planetary rotation
  • The white dwarf star that exploded in time, now forming the cores of the planets, is the stator for planetary rotation.
  • The planetary mantles are the rotors, and tries to align with the polar, equivalent space motion of the core.
For orbital motion about the sun
  • The sun is the stator for planetary orbits.
  • The planets are the rotors.
