The Reciprocal System Research Society

ISUS, the International Society of Unified Science, has decided to change its name, mainly because ISUS sounds a bit too much like ISIS. I just completed the paperwork and we are now the Reciprocal System Reserach Society (RSRS or RS2).

I'll be doing some major site upgrades in the near future to address this, so I can make some changes.

Question: is this forum structure (Drupal 7 "advanced forum") adequeate, or should I switch over to something like phpBB3, which is software designed explicitly for forum use? Let me know your thoughts.

The name change is probably wise. How about new membership catds to reflect the change?

What structure are you and any other adminstrators comfortable with, and will a change interfere with your math and modeling constructs?

The amount of information is steadily growing on this site. So functions like (advanced) search, show posts by user or tag, etc. are needed more and more today. IMO phpBB3-like software is already appropriate for RS2 forum.

It isn't. I find the UI so frustrating that it actually limits my activity here.

The topic structure is fine, though.

PHPbb3 is fine but its inline picture attachment resizing needs special care IMO. I know of someone who actually managed to configure it properly.

OK, I am going to set up phpbb3 on the new site and see if I can port over this forum. It is a much better forum system and it seems I can use a LaTeX BBCode to continue to do the equations that are already in use here.

I may not be participating here for a bit, as I have a lot of conversion and upgrade work to do that I want to complete so I can deprecate the old sites. (Way too much maintenance these days!)
